IN REMEMBRANCE

Well we are now coming to the end of this day , this special day because 92yrs ago it was the end of the First World War . So many very young men or in some cases boys lost their lives during this War . Many dont even have a grave because in many cases they were just blown to pieces or lost in the Flanders mud . They had to live in terrible conditions . Many times they were in water and mud up to their thighs and they had to stand duty in this all night long . I have read many accounts of the Soldiers experience that have left me in tears or in awe at what they put up with and endured . They did this for their Country and for Freedom . We must NEVER forget that they gave their lives for 'OUR FREEDOM' . Heros everyone !!
I am including some photos of my Grand-fathers Medals , he served with the 1st Devonshire Regiment . He joined the Army in 1910 , served all through the 1st World War , was badly injured on The Somme and during 1918 recieved the DCM for oustanding bravery . He continued to serve in the Army until 1933 .

The 2nd lot of photos and the photograph is of my Father . He was called up at the start of the 2nd World War and served until the end . I hope you enjoy looking at these photos , i am so very proud of these 2 men and without them and men of their like we wouldnt be here and enjoying the lives we have now ... SO GOD BLESS TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM !MY darling Dad who i love so very much and missing him is a heartache that has never gone away . He wasnt just a very 'Special' Dad , he was a very Special' man as well .. RIP Dad ...

A HAPPY HALLOWEEN

WHOOPS !! ...I havent written an up-date on here for awhile , naughty girl !!

Well did everyone have a good Halloween ... I did . My daughter Ruth had a Halloween Party at her house and it was brilliant . She had blacked out all the walls with black plastic which had these fantastic designs on them . She covered all of the ceiling with cobwebs , spiders , bats and hanging skeletons . We had lighted pumkins and candles . She had also put up the canopy outside and decorated that with hanging ghosts and bunting , i may add it was just as well that she put up the canopy as it belted down with rain nearly the whole night . Plenty of food and drink for everyone , and music all with the sound effects . Everyone had such a great time ! ... Hope you enjoy looking at the photos . Hi Everyone ...

Now i live in Cornwall in the UK , land of Legends , Lore , ghosts and strange happenings . It is also a place of up-most beauty and i love it . There is no-where quite like Cornwall and even Bodmin Moor which is desolate has a haunting beauty of its own . Most of you must of heard of 'Jamaica Inn' by 'Daphne de Maurier' . Jamiacia Inn was built in 1750 as a resting place for the weary traveller . It is on the edge of Bodmin Moor and very isolated and was a place used by Smugglers along the Cornish Coast because of the isolation as well . There are many ghostly stories and legends involving Bodmin Moor and Jamaica Inn , but i think i may save some for nearer to Halloween ! ... A few pictures of Bodmin Moor and Jamacia Inn .



Another place that is special to Cornwall is Tintagel where the legend of King Arthur and the Knights of The round table came from ... Now wheather this legend is true i dont know , but i'm romantic enough to believe it ..Saying King Arthur brings to mind Merlin , Camalot and the Sword in The Stone .. Wouldn't it be nice if we could travel back in time and go to these places and see them as they where many , many years ago , see how they dressed and lived , but mainly we have to rely on stories handed down from generations long gone .. . I hope you like this peek into my beloved Cornwall and the photos , i will add some more . The ruins in the photo is Tintagel Castle .
Built right on the cliff edge .. what a truly beautiful place .. As you walk these paths you wonder how many people have walked these same paths before you in a different time ...

REMEMBERING

Nine yrs ago today the World was stunned by the events that took place in America .... Watching programmes on the TV this week of 9/11 still stuns and upsets me . How can the human race inflict this horror on each other ?? !! .. Why cant we all accept that different nations believe , worship and live in a different way to each other .. But there will always be those who dont believe in Freedom , who are power crazy or that their religion is the 'ONLY' religion . That is why we have to 'remember' all those who died on that terrible day, and along with those , we should also remember all 'our' Armed Forces who have given their lives in the name of Freedom in all Wars and are still doing so today .. God Bless Them and to those who lost their lives may they Rest In Peace ...... I'm not going to add anything more today but will leave you with a poem i came across on a web site which i found quite moving ...

A BIT OF HOME BAKING AND LIFE

Hi all ... Well looking out of my crafting room window here it looks far from a lovely summer's day .  I think we have skipped the last part of Summer and just gone straight into Autumn , oh for the long Summer days of my youth !


Over the last couple of weeks my son David and Andrew my daughter Ruth's partner have done very well in the 1st season of Racing Pigeons .

The pigeon , a blue checker , was home first from a race over 100 miles away and he took 1st in the Pigeon Club that they race in and also 1st in the Fed , that is a combination of all the clubs in our area .  So everyone was thrilled .  They are certainly doing well for their 1st racing season .  The bottom picture is my grand-son Drew , Ruth's and Andrew's youngest child .  I had to include this as he looks so cute .  He has his own bucket of food and he's waiting for his pigeon to come home ... isnt he just the cutest thing !!

I do some baking to take down with me when i go down to watch the pigeons come home ... well you have to have a cup of coffee or tea and a piece of cake dont you ?!! lol .

In all the many things that i have made over the years , i have never made a cheesecake .  So i decided to give it a go and here is my 'strawberry cheesecake '  and it certainly wont be the last one i ever make !  It was really easy to make , i dont know why i havent ever had a go at making one before .

In the top picture i made Chocolate Cheesecake muffins ... Very nice , everyone loved them , although i found them a bit too sweet .  The botom one is of Carrot muffins with a cream cheese icing , again these were enjoyed by all .  You cant beat home baking , but it is surprising how many rather buy cakes than make them now-a-days  .  My daughter's all bake and i usually get a plateful brought up to me , which is a lovely treat !
Well i'm off now for a cup of coffee and maybe i'll just have a piece of cake with it lol .

PIGEONS AND SNORING !

Good Morning ! ... Today is my grand-son Drew's 3rd birthday ... Happy Birthday poppet !!!


It's dull and grey as i look out of the window here , where's our summer and all the hot weather gone ?? !!!



Last night i went to the cinema to watch the new 'Twilight' Film .  I went with my 3 daughters and 2 of their friends .  I've come to the conclusion my 3 daughters aren't quite right in the head lol !! Nutty as fruit cakes .  I so love being in there company , they make me laugh and i feel young again .  They wouldn't let me feel any other way.

My son David and my daughter Ruth's partner Andrew have gone into partnership racing and keeping pigeons .  On Sunday they had their 1st young bird race .  As my late ex.husband kept and raced pigeons just about all his life i thought i would go and watch the birds come home .  They were released at 09-00 am Sunday morning and should arrive home about 1hr and 10mins later .  I had done some home baking the night before so i took down some of the cakes and biscuits that i made so we could have them with a nice cup of tea or coffee whilst waiting for the birds .  We were all excited and just a little bit worried that they would all arrive home and without any injuries .  At 12 mins after 10 we suddenly saw a large batch of pigeons go over , and breaking out of that batch was 3 of 'our' birds .  I cant explain the rush of emotion that goes through you when you see your pigeon arrive , bear in mind that a lot of 'pigeon fanicers' love their birds dearly and form quite a bond with them , even with some pigeons treating their owners as if they are their mate !!  It was a good race with most of the birds returning by the end of the day .  They did really well for their first race taking 6th and 8th 9th 10th in their pigeon club !

I had to go  and see the Ear , Nose and Throat specialist this week as well to see if i had 'Sleep Apnea' , Thankfully i havent .  If i had known though before i went that i would be having a camera up my nose and down my throat i dont think i would of gone !  Yes i am a coward ! Anyway it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be .  Apparently my bottom jaw is back further than it should be and my tongue is also back further than it should be , which means that when i sleep my throat than narrows which causes my snoring !  You may laugh , but i dont think my partner is seeing the funny side of it anymore !! I could have some sort of brace made which you wear at night which can help but it costs the magic word MONEY ! .So at the moment it will have to wait , i'm just hoping my partner can as well lol ! .... Life is full of crazy little things isnt it ? !!

Shall we begin ?? !!

I've been thinking about doing this blog for awhile now .  I already have another blog for card-making and scrapbooking , but i wanted a place that i could come to and just write random stuff , whether it be about my daily life , my baking , books that i'm reading and to add poems and quotes .

So here we are .

I'm sitting in my crafting room at the moment on my easy chair typing this .  My fatigue from my ME is kicking in at the moment and i'm fighting not too drop off to sleep .  I hate this illnes or should i say illness's , i feel like a prisoner in my own body .  There are some days when i dont feel so bad , when the pain level is low and then you think if i just do something a bit more it wont hurt ? !! Oh but it does hurt because next day or even the after that the pain will kick in and boy does it let you know that yes it did matter .  The feeling of not having control over your own body is a frightening one , but somehow you have to try and over come that helpless feeling .  Pacing yourself is something you are told or you read time after time , but when you have always been active it isn't quite that easy .  Having to give up work last year has helped but not as much as i thought or hoped it would , but i am coping better and i dont have to deal with so much stress as i did before so that is a bonus !
